Municipal Administrative Center - Places to go in Cali


Crossing the Bridge Ortiz north on Cali River Park near the Retreat, is a complex of modern buildings which are located the offices of the main city's municipal authorities.

Cali was the first city in Colombia that had a modern building to house their governmental institutions, known as the MAC (Municipal Administrative Center) houses the City Hall, secretaries, treasury, land registry and City Council, as well as the offices of public companies the city, so it is common to see lots of Cali doing all kinds of paperwork. For occasions and festivities in the city the square of the CAM is the scene of events and musical, artistic and political.


Next to the Municipal Administrative Center is the Park of the Retreat, known for musical events presented the municipal band in the afternoon on Sunday called retreats. In honor of these events, in celebration of 450 years of founding of the city was given a replica of the neoclassical gazebo where the band played previously existed in the Plaza de Caicedo, located on the north side of the Cali River, is surrounded by large green areas and walkways ceibas illuminated by French-style lamps in wrought iron benches that allow the rest of passers.


 

In December this area of ??the city is not visited by the Christmas lights decorating the sides of the river and flows over the bridge at Paseo Bolivar Ortiz, as a connector between the Park of the Retreat and the Municipal Administrative Centre.


 

Named Paseo Bolivar in honor of the liberator of Colombia, is a pedestrian street located between the races 1 and Av 2 nd North Calle12 to the western side near the Municipal Administration Centre is a monument to Ephraim and Mary in honor of the writer vallecaucano Jorge Isaacs.
